  Product Description

  The Timken 687 is a cone for a single-row tapered roller bearing. This removable cone consists of the inner ring and tapered rollers. When used together with a separately available cup (outer ring), these components form a complete tapered roller bearing assembly.

  Both the inner and outer rings feature conical raceways, and the rollers are tapered. This design allows tapered roller bearings to support combined radial and axial loads (in one direction).

  The geometry of tapered roller bearings minimizes sliding between the raceways and rollers, significantly reducing component wear. However, a minimum load is required to ensure proper bearing performance.

  Because the cone and cup are separable, installation is straightforward. End play (axial clearance) or preload can be precisely adjusted by moving the components axially during assembly.

  For optimal performance and reliability, it is recommended to replace the cone and cup as a matched set and to use components from the same manufacturer. Mixing components from different manufacturers may lead to bearing issues due to variations in internal geometry, materials, and tolerances. Always pair the Timken 687 cone with its corresponding Timken cup.
