    Description:
This listing is for one SKF 99185 Speedi-Sleeve wear sleeve.

The SKF 99185 is a shaft repair sleeve designed to restore worn or damaged shaft sealing surfaces without replacing or machining the shaft. Speedi-Sleeves provide a smooth, durable sealing surface for radial shaft seals, helping improve seal performance and reduce leakage caused by shaft wear, grooves, corrosion, or surface damage.

This sleeve is designed for shafts in the range of approximately 47.17 mm to 47.32 mm and has a nominal shaft size of 1.86". It is commonly used in automotive, agricultural, industrial, pump, gearbox, motor, and general mechanical shaft repair applications where this exact SKF Speedi-Sleeve number and shaft size are required.

    ·         The SKF SPEEDI-SLEEVE offers a quick and efficient solution to restore worn shafts. Faster than demetallizing or regrinding, it enhances the sealing system by creating an ideal surface for seals. In contrast to many common regrinding methods—which often yield surfaces that are difficult to seal—the outside finish of a SPEEDI-SLEEVE is optimized for this purpose.

    ·         With a standard size range accommodating shafts from 12 mm to 200 mm (.472” to 8”), each sleeve is made of high-grade stainless steel, is only 0.28 mm (0.011”) thick, and features a wear-resistant surface with a finish of Ra 0.25–0.5 µm (10–20 µin). Installation requires no expensive preparation or machining—just a few minutes reduces downtime significantly.

    ·         These thin-walled stainless steel sleeves are a reliable fix when a crankshaft needs a renewed sealing surface. Not only do they cost less, but installation is fast and straightforward, producing a surface harder than a new shaft. The same size seal as the original will fit snugly over the newly restored surface, and every SPEEDI-SLEEVE comes with a disposable installation tool.

    ·         Though the installation process is simple, care and attention are required to ensure optimal results. Every kit includes an installation tool.

    ·         # How to Install an SKF SPEEDI-SLEEVE

    ·         ·         Clean the seal counter face on the shaft and smooth out any burrs or rough spots.

    ·         ·         Measure the diameter at the location where the sleeve will be positioned, averaging readings from three different points to confirm it meets specifications. If measurements are within the recommended range, the sleeve will press-fit securely without the need for adhesive.

    ·         ·         Determine and mark the exact position for the sleeve so it covers the worn area rather than just sitting flush with the shaft end.

    ·         ·         Shallow grooves don’t require filling; optionally apply a light coat of non-hardening sealant inside the sleeve if desired, but remove any excess.

    ·         ·         For deep scoring, fill grooves with a powdered metal epoxy before installing the sleeve, allowing installation to wipe away any surplus. Clean off residual filler from the outside surface.

    ·         ·         Position the flange end first onto the shaft, then use the provided installation tool to fit the sleeve.

    ·         ·         Gently tap the center of the tool until the sleeve fully covers the worn section. If needed, use a similarly sized pipe or tubing with a smooth, squared-off edge. Avoid scratching the precision ground surface.

    ·         ·         Leave the flange intact unless necessary for clearance. If removal is required, cut along the tear-off groove with metal shears, bend or twist the flange off, being careful not to damage the sleeve.

    ·         ·         After installation, check for burrs again.

    ·         10. Lubricate the sleeve with the appropriate medium prior to installing the seal.

    ·         11. Proceed with mounting the seal.

    ·         # Determining the Correct Size

    ·         Clean the shaft thoroughly and measure the undamaged section of the seal counter face at least three times along different planes. Use the average value to select the correct SKF Sepedi-Sleeve size. If your measurement falls within the permissible product table range, the sleeve will fit tightly without needing adhesive.
