The GE40TXE-2LS SKF is a spherical plain bearing. It consists of an inner ring with a convex outer surface and an outer ring with a concave inner surface; there are no rolling elements. This design provides load capacity and enables the accommodation of misalignment.

The GE40TXE-2LS SKF uses a steel-on-PTFE sliding contact, classified as maintenance-free. During initial use, PTFE particles are distributed to the opposite running surface, filling minor irregularities and producing a uniform surface. This process helps the components fit together closely.
